The Owner
Doug Short is a lifer in the game, a Legacy member at The Legends in Franklin, and carries a single digit handicap. In 2014, Doug attended the Mitchell Golf Club Performance school to learn about club building, repairing, fitting, shaft profiling, frequency matching, and many other aspects of the golf club. Since earning ‘Master Club Performance Specialist’ at Mitchell, Doug has added fitting certification from KBS and True Temper and is recognized as a fitter for Nippon, Fujikura, and Graphite Design. Doug began to formulate ideas on how to bring about an all-encompassing indoor facility that included his club repair and fitting business while including entertainment aspects and giving the serious golfer a facility that matched their dedication. Eagle Two Golf Center was designed to meet the needs of both the recreational golfer and competitive golfer.
Doug’s son Peyton, a 2020 Center Grove Graduate and current USI Screaming Eagle, plays competitively and carries a +1 index. Peyton won several junior tournaments, was a starter on the Center Grove state runner up team in 2019 and champion in 2020 and was a Golfweek Junior Tour ‘All Midwest Team’ honoree. In the summer, you may find Peyton lending a hand to dad or working hard in one of the bays.
The Facility
Inside the 3,200 s.f. facility, you’ll find 4 Simulator bays that feature Foresight Sports’ top of the line GC Hawk launch monitors. Noted for its incredible accuracy, the ceiling mounted unit allows both right handed and left handed golfers to share each bay without the need to move equipment around. Each unit comes with FSX2020, FSX Play, FSX Pro, Foresight Fairgrounds, over 175 courses, and club data add-ons.
Each bay also features a 14’ wide triple layer screen that stands 9’ tall. This triple layer screen features a middle padded layer to reduce noise and bounce back as well as a high definition exterior layer for crisp clear imagery. The BenQ LK935ST 4k laser projector produces 8.3 million pixels per inch and utilizes a ‘golf mode’ that sharpens blues and greens to prevent purple hues where the two meet. The software and gaming engine is running on a dedicated Asus G15CF gaming computer utilizing a G-Force RTX3060 video card. Rounding out the immersive experience is an overhead Bose soundbar.
Outside each bay features a 10’ counter height sitting area and four bar stools with 2” padded vinyl seats. Overhead you’ll find your own 55” 4k television and every sports station available including Golf Channel, MLB, NHL, NFL, Bally, Big Ten, SEC, ESPN+ and many more. Never miss a game or tour event while enjoying the facility.
The ‘shaft wall’ features 44 linear feet of fitting shafts. Driver and fairway shafts can be adapted to fit on the user’s current gamer so that they may ‘try before you buy’ right in the fitting bay. No longer will you need to pay $350 for a new shaft and find out it wasn’t a great match for you or your clubhead. Using the numbers right in the bay, it’s never been easier to upgrade your equipment without the risk of getting stuck with something that doesn’t perform for you.
The retail wall is 65 linear feet of golf merchandise from tees to training aids and everything in between. Offering brands you know, and trust, is of great importance to Eagle Two and we only select the items we know our customers expect. Brands like GolfPride, Lamkin, Winn, SuperStroke, Fujikura, Graphite Design, Nippon, KBS, DrizzleStik, PitchFix, PrideSports, ChampTees, Frogger, PuttOUT, and many more.
In the back, the 180s.f repair room features everything needed to get you back up and running as soon as possible. Features of the repair center include the digital Mitchell loft/lie machine, DigiFlex frequency machine, Mitchell shaft puller, Grip station, Mitchell swing weight scale, Maltby putter loft/lie machine, dedicated steel and graphite cutting and prepping stations, Auditor epoxy curing station, Laser Etching and Stamping station, Mitchell ferrule prep motor, drill press, grinding and buffing motors, and many other hand tools used in the making, repairing, and modifying of clubs.
